Yes folks, HNA on TV, though back then (early 1980's) the league was refered to as NNHA (and before that NNHL).
This commercial aired on a, then, little known cable channel called the Entertainment & Sports Programming Network, or ESPN.
Gordie Howe was the original spokesperson for NNHA and was truly a class act. Gordie also made regular apperances in the various NNHA member cities, skating with each beginner class.
Trivia note: the voiceover at the end of the commercial is league founder Ashley Root, who started (then) NNHL back in 1980 at the Lakeforst Mall Ice Arena in Gaithersburg, Maryland with a bunch of street-hockey-playing wanna-be ice hockey players and whole lot of momentum from the 1980 US Gold Medal at Lake Placid.
